Three site-specific installations.
The photographs are views through the windows of living rooms in the parts of the world where the majority of Dutch immigrants originate: West Africa, Eastern Europe, the Maghreb and the former Dutch colonies.
In the installation in the 9 shop windows of ARTWALK they establish a relationship with the residents of the Staatsliedenbuurt, a working class neighbourhood in Amsterdam where many immigrants have lived since the 1960s.
In De Balie, a Dutch organization that produces independent journalistic programs about art, culture and politics, the images in the windows could be seen from the Leidseplein, a busy square in downtown Amsterdam, and from inside the center’s busy cafe.
At the Breda photo festival, the photos were installed outside like a street you can walk through.
