Waves are formed where the sea meets the land. A movement generated far away by the wind creates waves that roll against the beach at Katwijk. On the seabed they carve ripples in the sand that are repeatedly formed and washed away. The undulations, which describe in the sand the frequency and force of the water, are visible at low tide. They have a short lifespan and change constantly under the influence of the sea, the weather and human presence.
These sand waves have been fixed in the work. They are cast in a transparent PU rubber. The orange-coloured rubber resembles amber, in which traces of life from another age are preserved. The light has a strong influence on the appearance of the relief and changes the sculpture constantly.
